We found out on Monday that our waiver has been approved in El Salvador! Yay!!! I know so many people have been right there with us through this process and praying for us and with us through all our struggles. I want to thank everyone for that. Without this blog and all of our online support in particular, I don't know how I would have gotten through the past 3 years of this immigration "nightmare".
Our waiver was officially approved on July 26th, 2011.
We are now waiting for the next step in the process. It's not over yet!!! It won't be over until I see my love walking towards us in the airport.
We are waiting for the embassy to send us or call us with a checklist of documents that may need to be updated. Since our waiver was officially approved in under a year, we may not need to update many things, hopefully just the solvencia (police report) and his birth certificate. Once we find out what we need then we get his last appointment date to turn those documents in and they do one last interview with him. After that, they will send the passport with the visa stamped in it to our house in El Salvador. Once Eduardo receives that passport, I will book the tickets for him to fly home!
Now getting all these last things wrapped up can take weeks or months. I am praying it will not take long. PLEASE let Eduardo return in a couple weeks!! PLEASE!!

That is awesome! Congratulations!
I am new to your blog and am fascinated by it. How were you able to get your husband a waiver? Was he deported from the US? My husband is a deportee, we've been living here now for over 2 years and thought there was no chance of ever going back to the states. You have given me a little hope this morning. Thank you
That is GREAT!!! Congratulations!! It is nice to finally see that someone has gotten their approval. We are praying that it will only be a couple of weeks for you!!!
Thanks ladies!! It's definitely a sweet victory!
Jennifer - You MUST check out www.immigrate2us.net! I would need to know more specifics on your case, but you can most definitely file for an I-601 waiver for your husband. There is a great El Salvador community on the website so check it out ASAP! You are not doomed to be in El Salvador forever. Also, depending where you live, you could meet up with my husband and chat about it too :) He was never deported. We left voluntarily after our daughter was born so we would have a chance of a future in the States as a family. The risk of him getting deported was much too great! I hope to see you on the forum soon :) My username is 3tepas.
Congratulations!!!! I've just found your blog but I plan to read through it. We've been in El Salvador for 2 months now and haven't had our first appointment yet but hopefully soon. I can't wait to go home.

Julie - I'm so excited you have found this blog as well. I just checked out yours and can't wait until I have some time to read through it all! I know how that wait is. We went down to El Salvador in April 2010 thinking our appointment would be scheduled around then and it wasn't until the end of June! Then we got placed on "Admistrative Processing" because my husband has a tattoo and they didn't let us turn in our waiver until October 2010! It was frustrating to say the least. I hope you guys get through the process quickly. If you have your appointment soon, you have a chance at a pretty quick turnover rate right now. We were told it would be 15 months and it was only 9 from the actual waiver submission. That's pretty good for El Salvador. In the past they have been one of the slowest embassies, but I think they are really trying to improve. So good luck to you!!
I am soo happy for you and your family Kelsey. I hope your hubby is able to go home to you soon.
Wahoo! Congratulations, Kelsey, I know it's belated, but I'm sure you are still stunned that it happened, and this soon. I read the next blog on the liver enlargement, and how riDICulous that psychiatrist was - glad to hear about the next doctor writing a long note to put the psycho psych. in his place (talk about jumping to conclusions, when he's only a head doctor to begin with - dont get me started about the medical community here...) So felicidades, you're in the final stretch. Now it's crossing T's, dotting I's and buttoning up. Thank God and God Bless.
All’s well that ends well! You just have to be patient and wait for your opportunity. And after 3 long years of waiting, your visa was finally approved. For those who are looking to get their visas approved, you should prepare and update all your important documents, so that the whole process of applying for U.S visa will just flow smoothly. By the way, how was your short trip to U.S.?
